Behaviour

All children have bouts of Challenging Behaviour - and foster children are no exception. Behaviour is directly linked to Feelings and Emotions. All behaviour serves a purpose and is usually a cry for help or frustration at not knowing what is happening and not being in control.

However if we understand the way the brain develops and how important attachments are, we can often empathise with the reasons why Fostered and Adopted children can be different to most. I  hope the posts in this section help, but I recommend that you look at posts on Attachments and the Brain. Also the video on Fostering - an absolute lightbulb moment for me - and much of the Fostering Basics section of this blog may help too.
