About Me

Hello I’m Belinda

an experienced Foster Carer and an Emotional Resilience Coach.

But I haven’t always been...

I used to be a Primary School teacher.

I’m a wife, a Mum to my two wonderful daughters, a grandma and a sister to my two brothers.

I’d never considered fostering until I just stumbled across an advert. It read ‘Foster Carers needed’.

I was originally looking for a way to earn an income, working from home, but I've never been driven by money.

This sparked my attention as I realised that it

wasn’t just a job or business to do at home,

but it was a way to help people and really make a difference. â€‹

You may wonder why I was originally looking to

work from home? Well, my other passion is my Border Collies,

so I wanted to be at home with them as much as I could.

I love walking them, training them and being with them. It just wouldn’t be fair to leave them at home all day would it?

So, having never thought about Fostering before, I did a bit of research into it.

But so much of what applies to Fostering also applies

to adoption too

Before I became a Foster Carer I ran my own Health & Nutrition business for several years.

My childhood was spent being brought up on a farm and now I live in the countryside.  â€‹I love nature, animals and peace and quiet!

Yes, that’s odd for a Foster Carer I know! But I also love children.

I think they love peace and quiet too, when they can get it, especially if they’ve come from chaotic or abusive backgrounds.

Did you Know?

On average, a 4-year-old child asks 437 questions a day.

Watching television can act as a natural painkiller for children.

Gardening improves children’s desire to learn and boosts their confidence

Children who participate in laughing activities experience an increase in memory retention

I’ve always had an interest in psychology, the way the brain works, and how we tick.

Since doing foster training on Attachments and Therapeutic Caring I now have a real passion for this. And this is what led me to become trained to be an Emotional Wellbeing Coach – an “Ollie Coach”.

I now help children understand their emotions and learn how to deal with them.

I think I’m Calm, Kind and Caring and wanted to offer a home to children where they could learn to be so too.

And now I'd like to support you too

Whether you are a Mum, Dad or a Carer for kids or Adoptive Parent, I welcome you

and I hope you’ll find something of benefit and value here.

I share some of my experiences with you. Some of the things I’ve learned, found useful, some frustrations

and also some of the things that have inspired me over the years.

I'd love to hear from you with any stories too! Please feel free to get in touch.

“Being a Foster Carer is like being a bridge for children in need, where we can nurture them and provide a safe place and a loving environment in which they can grow and develop until they move on.”  Belinda
